During the afternoon of 6 April 2020, Downing Street announced that Boris Johnson had been moved to intensive care at St Thomas’ Hospital in Central London, following the worsening of his COVID-19 symptoms.

On 27 March 2020, Johnson announced on Twitter that he had tested positive for coronavirus, and was self-isolating at home, but he continued to remain in charge of the national effort to fight the pandemic, and was coordinating the work of the Government from home.

Johnson’s fiancée, Carrie Symonds also announced on 4 April that had had coronavirus symptoms for a week, but was feeling stronger and “on the mend”.

The Prime Minister is being deputised by the Secretary of State Dominic Raab.
