A passenger trail is reported to have partially derailed near a disused station in Yongxing County, an administrative division of Chenzhou prefecture-level city in Hunan Province, China. The train is believed to have been a Jinan-Guangzhou intercity passenger train, with the derailment affecting up to seven carriages.
The accident is reported to have taken place at 12 noon on 30 March 2020.
In several video reports from the site of the accident, a small fire is seen in one of the lead carriages, while passengers and bystanders are seen helping passengers out of the carriages and on to the surrounding embankments.
There has been one fatality, four severe injuries, and 123 passengers with minor injuries, according to CCTV Asia Pacific.
Straits Times meanwhile is reporting that the accident was caused by falling soil from a landslide at the side of the track.
