In a recent interview, reality TV star and fashion mogul Kim Kardashian West explained to curious fans exactly why she has toned down her trademark sex symbol style.
For much of the last decade, Kardashian and her husband Kanye West had been icons of America’s sin-ridden culture. Kardashian herself catapulted into fame after a leaked sex tape and a hit reality TV show, and would likely be the last person any parent would consider as a good role model for their daughters. Her husband, West, as we’ve touched on in the past, was a megastar rapper famous for glorifying an immoral and blasphemous lifestyle.
To put it bluntly, like most celebrity couples, the two were a hot mess. And then, those two amazing words changed West’s life: “But God…”
God stepped in, took West’s life, and turned it upside down. As we’ve previously reported, the rapper recently had a radical salvation experience and now wishes to live every day of his life “in service to Christ,” come what may. Naturally, that sort of heart change made some waves at home!
In a recent interview with The Cut, Kardashian revealed that her husband’s new faith-based approach to leading his home, consideration of her four children, and her work with the White House on criminal justice reform have dramatically reshaped her image.
“I don’t know if it’s the fact that my husband has voiced that sometimes too sexy is just overkill and he’s not comfortable with that. I listen to him and understand him,” Kardashian said. “Still, at the end of the day, he always gives me the freedom to be and do what I want.”
“But I have kind of had this awakening myself,” she continued. “I realized I could not even scroll through Instagram in front of my kids without full nudity coming up on my feed pretty much all the time. And I definitely contributed to that.”
“I mean, one of my most iconic covers was the Paper magazine one, when I was all oiled up and ripping my dress off,” Kardashian admitted, referring to one of two covers for the independent fashion magazine in which Kardashian either bares or graphically emphasizes her bottom.
“I also did think, like, Okay, I’m here in the White House and then the next day I was posting, like, a crazy bikini selfie,” Kardashian said of her recent trips to speak to President Trump on criminal justice reform. “And I was thinking, I hope they don’t see this. I have to go back there next week.”
Ultimately, Kardashian says she is “evolving” and no longer feels the need to “keep up” with others, especially on social media. “Not that I did it to feel like I had to keep up, but I guess I just don’t care as much anymore to want to take tons of photos in a thong bikini.”
